**Please do not post your opinions if you do not want to debate them. Only post if you actually want to discuss the issues, not to just drop your opinion**
**Due to the nature of some of these debates, things tend to get a little heated depending on what is said. I trust everyone will be able to keep their head and debate in a civil manner, but if you think you're going to lose your head, don't post**
Seeing as we have quite a few LotRC debates open, I thought I would bring some real life issues to the debate forum. However, instead of having a ton of topics about each individual issue, I thought it might be easier to just compress them into one. Feel free to address as many of the issues as you want, don't feel pressured to answer everything if you don't want to.
So, basically, what is your opinion on the following issues:
1. Same-sex Marriage/Rights (For/Against/For with reservations, etc)
2. Abortion (For/Against/For with Restrictions, etc)
3. Gun Control (Total/None/Partial, etc)
4. Religion (Do you have one?/Evolution vs. Creationism/What role should religion play in society and government?, etc)
I'll add more as I think of them. Feel free to raise an issue yourself, as well.
I'll post my opinions later (Just got Fat Princess!!)

Well Joppi there's nothing like a debate about such polarizing 'hot topic' subjects that you suggested to get the blood boiling. We should all leave our weapons at the door.
I'll be short and to the point then, my beliefs are mine & I don't pretend to know everything, I in fact accept my ignorance in a lot of things and am open to learning. I guess this would be my moral compass, and how I try to live my life.
1. Same Sex Marriage - I'm for it by all means, love is love. It wasn't too long ago that women and African Americans did not have the right to vote, and countries around the world have already accepted Same Sex Marriages. This is a brave new world in which we live in, our way of thinking should also reflect that. And for the record I am 100% heterosexual female (not that there is anything wrong with that)
2. Abortion - with reservations & exceptions I am for it. As a female I would not choose to have one myself just for the sake of birth control. If circumstances arise such as endangering the mother's life or from rape then yes but only as a last measure. A woman has the right to choose, because it is her body.
3. Gun Control - being Canadian I think we tend to be I don't wish to offend but ' the right to bare arms happy ', I don't believe for a minute a hunter would need some assault rifle to go hunting. There have been far too many tragedies because of a lack in gun control, sorry that is my opinion.
4. Religion - Many evil things have been done to humanity in the name of Religion over the years. Any Religion be it Christian, Muslim, etc. etc. Did not the American founding fathers set up their government with a separation of Church & State. Keep religion out of government be it in Canada, the US, or Afghanistan. Period.
As some of the players know from our battles, I am not the best fighter or the smartest, but I am fierce and I believe honest and fight to last breath in me. These are merely my beliefs, I will respect your opinions if given the same opportunity. I welcome any open discussions and hopefully a big red target is not on my back from this, in future battles.

Hehe, well, I'll just have to trust that we're all mature enough to keep a level-head while debating these issues. I'll make note of it in the first post, though, thanks for reminding me.

Lol same sex marriages, no I do not think it should be called marriage. Marriage is a term for a man and a women. Call it something else witht he same right. Now dont get me wrong I have no issues with the same sex getting together. If its dude do it in you one bedroom, if its girls who are dudish same. But sexy ladies who get frisky keep up the good work. lol

There is 2 ugly girls where I work and they are dating, I guess that if theyre ugly as shit its ok that theyre lesbians since no straight guy would go for them anyway right? LOL I know exactly who you mean. 1. Same-sex Marriage/Rights (For/Against/For with reservations, etc) Not really bothered by the issue either way, do I personally have a problem with it? Na, Still trying to figure why gay people want to be married. ;D 2. Abortion (For/Against/For with Restrictions, etc) I actually was against abortion for a while, but then I realized babies grow up to be adults, Plus of idiots have babies that should not, so even though it's grim, I think abortion in some cases is for the best 3. Gun Control (Total/None/Partial, etc) Not a fan of guns at all. I wish they were all eliminated, but that is not going to happen so yeah gun control is very needed. 4. Religion (Do you have one?/Evolution vs. Creationism/What role should religion play in society and government?, etc) I'm an atheist who believes in Evolution 100%. It should play no role in government, but it will always play a role in society, at least for the time being.

1. Same-sex Marriage/Rights (For/Against/For with reservations, etc) I am against this. I think that it is wrong and personally I hate homosexual. I know everyone should have their rights but its just disgusting to see two guys together to me. 2. Abortion (For/Against/For with Restrictions, etc) I am only for abortion if the birth will do harm to the mother or rape was involved. If you dont want kids then dont have sex or use whatever protection you can. Its stupid and is considered murder to me. 3. Gun Control (Total/None/Partial, etc) I think we should allow people their rights to a firearm but they do need more extreme laws to ensure the safety of others. I agree with Redwurd that you dont need a assault rifle to go hunting. 4. Religion (Do you have one?/Evolution vs. Creationism/What role should religion play in society and government?, etc) Religion needs to stay out of the government period. It only causes more problems as one persons belief is not everyone's belief. Oh btw Redwurd, you have always had a target on your back.

Imo each of these deserve their own topic.

Imo each of these deserve their own topic. Most likely, I just hate topics titled "Gay Marriage".

1. I have no issue with same-sex marriage. People should be allowed to do what they want, with who they want. Just don't be overbearing and press your beliefs on others. 2. Abortion is tricky. In rape cases, I can see why a woman would want to have an abortion. Other than that...if you fucked up and didn't take the proper measures...you have no right to selfishly take the life of another being. There are PLENTY of parents that are looking to adopt and will pay for your medical costs. I'm on the fence here...but, I can honestly never imagine aborting a child. Mistake or not. 3. Being born an American, it is my right to own a gun. This doesn't mean that I love guns. In fact, I hate them. But...they're everywhere. And as long as the military industrial complex, the drugged out public, and fascist cops are running around with guns...it would be foolish not to have one to protect yourself. I grew up in the city, been shot at, and have seen the worst of the worst in society. We're headed down a dangerous path, not just in America, but the world over. Again...I hate guns...but as long as the 'Powers that Be' are using them against WE the people...WE the people have the right (duty) to defend ourselves and our constitutional rights. 4. I stand firm in my belief that organized religion is a HUGE global scam. They make BILLIONS of UNTAXED dollars every year on public ignorance alone. The fact of the matter is, the MAINSTREAM religions of the world are all quite similar. Of course there are exceptions, but are leading to the same path. I guess Agnostic would be the best way to describe my stance. I cannot prove that there is no God, but at the same time...I have seen no solid evidence of a God. Yet, there is something magical about life. There seems to be something more here than just a random collection of molecules. As far as Evolution is concerned, one cannot deny the similarites between Apes and Humans. But, there is a HUGE gap. Like someone spliced Apes with some Alien life form to make us. We are similar to Apes...yet so very different. Darwin's theory is tainted not only by holes in his text, but by Nazi-backing and EUGENICS (look it up or click below for an introduction). www.youtube.com/watch?v=8SdWBP52gxswww.youtube.com/watch?v=uoKqjpWZkvswww.youtube.com/watch?v=174QiTrzFV8Not believing in God is fine, but there are those out there that wish to play the role of God...and that is not fine.

I don't know, I wouldn't call a 6% difference in our dna a "HUGE gap" (chimp dna is 94% identical to ours). Genetically speaking it is very clear that we evolved from apes.

It is huge when you can't account for that 6%.
And no...it isn't clearly Evolution. They are clearly related to us, but it may not be as simple as Evolution. That is the point I was making.

Well, they CAN actually account for that 6 percent. They decoded the human genome and are well underway decoding the chipanzee genome, and they see very clearly how humans are different and where/how they developed genetically.

If you believe that...that's fine. Just remember, the information that we receive regarding these issues (especially today) comes from the "elite" -- the money-controlling private interests that are running the world. They push their agenda and they tell the public what they want (propaganda, et al.)
Watch the vidoes. Look up Eugenics and the New Age Agenda (Theosophy). And if you can...look up EcoScience (a very Darwinian, Euegenics-based text book) that Obama's science czar co-wrote.
I never said Evolution wasn't real. I'm just telling you not to swallow the Kool-Aid...

I agree that there is a lot of misinformation out there, and that the rich and powerful that have control of the media can manipulate what reaches the public and what doesn't, but I really don't see what they would stand to gain from the idea of evolution. In fact, in order for the rich and powerful to stay atop society it is in their best interest to keep the masses divided and weak, and to that end religion is a very effictive tool while science really isn't.
Which isn't to say that science is entirely free of influence. It isn't. Especially in the area of the pharmaceutical industry, where the aim is more to find ways to control symptoms rather than to find cures, since you can make more money from people paying for drugs their entire lives than paying once for a cure and that being it. But again I can't see what gain could be made, fincancial or social, from falsifying genetic research.
