I was fairly bored so i made this topic. Who do you think was most important in the defeat of Morgoth/Melkor? It won't make sense unless your knowledge of tolkien's Middle-Earth stretches beyond the Lord of the Rings and into some of his other work telling some of the earlier stories of the same world. I would say Turin Tarambur, because he will eventually destroy Morgoth at Dagor Dagorath.

Wasn't it beren and luthien who wrested the silmaril from his crown? It's been a while since i've read it. Too busy playing conquest now. I need help.......

I believe it was, if memory serves correctly After thinking about it, i think i'll retract my vote and place it on Earendil for the defeat of Ancalgon and aid in the defeat of Melkor.

Man, it's been a long time since I've read the Silmarillion. I'd have to brush up...but I'd have to go with Earendil.
He took initiative by asking the Valar for aid, spear-headed the charge and took down Ancalagon.

feanor for creating the simarils in turn creating the desire in the hearts of good and evil to obtain them, leading to the wars and eventual downfall of melkor
