Who read all the books? ie, The Hobbit, Two Towers, etc. Anyways the only reason I got involved in Lotr and Conquest and my school forced me to read all the books or I receive an F D: FACT if the school hadn't force me to read the books I would've never bought this game.

I have read all the above and, children of Hurin, tales from the Perilous Realm and the first two of the book of lost tales. Alot of the books you kinda need to " struggle" through since they aren't really written as books in the traditional sense. They are more a collection of notes that Tolkien's son has pasted together in a sort of chrological order. The weird thing is, if you can get through them you can reflect back and say, gee, that actually was cool. One recommendation I do have is to try to find the hardcover books illustrated by Alan Lee. His artistry inspired almost all of what you see in the movies. Kinda cool!

Before Fellowship came out I had only read The Hobbit. Fellowship inspired me to read the books so between Fellow' and Towers I read them all. So I had the unique experience of watching the movie before reading the book, and reading the book before watching the movie.....in the same movie.

I was first introduced to the Hobbit back in Grade 5 & have loved ever since. I've read & reread the Fellowship of the Ring Trilogy for years, and struggled with the Silmarillion & forget most of it ;[ & was going to get the "new" one legend of Sigurd & Gudrun when I can pull myself away from conquest & have time to read.

I read the hobbit in the third grade. I was visiting someone's house in some other state and I woke up at like 5am and no one was up so I went downstairs and pulled out a book from the shelf to pass the time, and I happened to choose the hobbit. I think in fifth grade I found out that the hobit was actually a prequel and I read the three main books.
I haven't read any of the other stuff outside the hobbit and the main 3.

@ redwurd, Sigurd and Gudren are notes.... I dunno but i read about 50 pages and found it really boring, my recommendation would be to not get it. And I have also read all the books, but I skimmed most of the fellowship, so i don't remember most parts.

I did hear that the 'new' Tolkien Sigrid & Brudin didn't have all the love from the fans of the Hobbit & Lord of the Rings, but was willing to give it a try, like barrow from the public library & not spend money buying the book. I'm a fan of reading Science Fiction/Fantasy books. Read all the Dragon Lance books way back when I was in high school. I did read David Gemmell's Troy- Lord of the Silver Bow (guess I have a thing for Lords, mmm), anyway I loved the whole series. History meets Fantasy my favourite! Neil Gaiman's book American Gods has got to be on my list of all time favourite books, of course after the Hobbit & Lord of the Rings trilogy. And yes I'm a potthead, I've had a guilty pleasure of reading & enjoying the Harry Potter books (well the darker ones 4 -7 at least). Any other tittles you can suggest to round out my summer reading?

If you have time start with Magician-apprentice by Raymond feist. There are about 25 books to his namemeant to be reaD in order. There are About 4-5 mini series around 4 books each. I read all of them and they only get better as you go. They are sort of similar to a middle earth type land. Very good.
