no, archers are a long range class, same as snipers in shooters, they do better zoomed in from a far than non zoomed trying to kill someone 5 feet away.

It definitely gives them a unique advantage over all the other classes in that they can attack people while not being in danger of being attacked themselves, and is one of the reasons they are, imo, the best class for killing in the game. But it's not unfair.

Joppi. This is not a joke thread, but i was wondering how other people feel about it when an archer from across the screen kill them. I myself will be close enough to kill them so they could see me... But if i'm in a game like CTR i will attack long range in order to kill them. How is your playstyle Joppi?

I'm not seriously suggesting that it's a joke thread, I'm saying that the question you asked has such an obvious answer that it might as well be a joke thread.

Archers are designed to be able to attack from long range, that's the whole point of their class.

Well I have a particular admiration for archers and getting shot in the face has always excited me for some reason. My gut reaction is 'Christ Jesus!!!' that was a good shot! Clusterfuck archers though, are just as bad, if not worse than clusterfuck mages. There are some games where I just cant move from all the fuckin' poison and explosions around and thats no fun for me, although I'm sure the archer is having a blast. If the legitimate question here is rather it's fair to get lots of kills from a distance, then of course it's fair. As Yoppi said thats the whole point and thats what a long range class is supposed to do. There has never been a time where I was killed by an archer from any distance where I thought it was unfair.

me being a archer myself i really dont think its unfair. its the same thing as a sniper on COD but with alot more limitations.

It's completely fair to snipe people from all the way across the map. That's what archers are best for. Although I don't like archers going up the hill in the shire. That just annoys me, but it is still fair.

If an archer kills you at long range, grab an archer and shoot him back! Besides, archers are so weak physically it's totally fair to shoot from a distance. Most of the time if you are caught up close you are dead. ( some players here being the exception!)

Whats there to debate here? Archers=long range.

2 options to kill him (at least what I do)

1) Be an archer and snipe back
2) Be a scout and sneak around them, they'll eventually get pissed and change classes after getting backstabed or combo hit by a scout

I don't mind archers killing me from afar. That just means I'm not being careful enough

I would add another option to killing them: as a Mage, just stay not too far with your shield up and get the occasional bolt in when you get the chance. If they're dumb enough to fall for the ground pound trick, so much the better.

I occasionaly use Lurtz when I have to play evil in HTDM. I find him better than the Mouth of Sauron and I mostly play mage.

Good archers are very good players because it's pretty hard to hit targets running all over the place from far away.

i find it fair because it the only advantage they have over the other classes
