these are all free-roaming games, i have played all these games but i have only played the demo of infamous.
my vote goes to the tony hawk series because it was the very first free roaming game i had played and i though it was amazing. tony hawk has always been my favourite games and american wasteland sealed the deal for me because i didnt stop playing it for a very long time.
make your decision!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I always though that San Andreas was the highest point of the GTA series. I liked GTAIV a lot, but it narrowly lost out to San Andreas, cause GTAIV is too real. The wacky fun in San Andreas was absent in GTAIV.

What about Oblivion. Wouldn't that be considered free-roaming and it's the best game ever.!!

Great point Jonathan! Oblivion was one of my most rewarding gameplay experiences ever. It's hard to vote for the candidates above because I like all those games for different reasons, at different times in my gameplay career. I have to say though, I find myself playing PROTOTYPE just for the sheer fun of it more than those other games. Then again I spent years on all the GTA's and am still not tired of GTA4 multiplayer. I dunno what I'm tryin to say here.

I woudn't say Creed, cause you can't really "free roam" in the true sense of the word. GTA, you could start rampages, cause massive pile-ups, crash land an airplane(Gta san andreas) etc...

fallout 3 > oblivion. the former allows the freedom of choice whereas the latter punishes any sort of deviant behavior. plus! mutants!
I've only played assassin's creed out of that list and wasn't amazed, so can't really vote.
buuut I'm currently trying to decide between infamous and prototype and am basically on the fence. I'm leaning towards prototype, but have actually played the demo of infamous (and liked it), so it's experience vs recommendation. aaany opinions?

I was oblivious in Oblivion! I think I lost a year because of it! I still have a fair chunk of my hardrive filled with Oblivion cuz I can't bear to delete it in hopes that I'll play again, sad I know isn't it? This isn't Hello Kitty, but close: Little Big Planet! I do love this game (must be the little girl in me, No Perv remarks please). I love Stephen Fry narratives. Yes its cutesy, but the innovative whole concept is fresh. Fans can create their own little worlds & you can see how creative some really are, (I don't have time, energy or that much talent) and play in them. Maybe if they use that 'freshness' into a darker, more grown up game it will get the love it so richly deserves.

Hey how are Infamous & Over Lord? I was seriously considering getting those games, but I'm soo addicted to Lotr Conquest that I would buy them & not play for a while & I could wait until the price goes down or even by used. I hate spending the inflated price on a game that sucks.

Red I had a great time with Infamous. It was good enough for me to hang up my sword long enough to work my way through it. It has great production value and an intriguing story. I think it's worth checking out.
