Ok I need help here and Adanedhel usually knows the answer but I'm sure someone else does too. When I get my new ps3 slim next week how do I transfer all my data to the new system. Can I just pop an SD card in and copy it all? Will it keep all my friends? Help!

First, go to bestbuy or whatever, and get a 200+ GB external hard drive. Plug into your ps3 and in yor settings find backup utility. It'll format you hard drive, and soon, back it up. Then, on your slim, plug in, restore utility. Use your hard drive. Your data will be back, though some things won't transfer.

ooo i just saw this post. sorry about your old ps3 gordo. ok so when you get your new slim ps3.....you will not lose friends or trophies just messages and chats.(friends and trophies reappear after you create your user on the system and sign in)(my trophies for lotr didnt fully transfer over until i redownloaded DLC). it depends on what you have on your old system that you want to keep or dont care if you part with. doing what yash said will work but a hard drive is like 75 bucks so unless you have one already or it doesnt matter spending the money then do what yash said. otherwise you can insert a sd (psp, msduo pro, ect ect.) card into your old one and copy over your saved data then put it into the new one and copy it to that and done. as far as anything that you downloaded from the psn store. you must create yourself again as a user on the new system then sign in then go to (dont quote me here)account managment then to transaction history then to download list and then you have to redownload everything you want. you dont have to re-buy it just download it again. (yes time consuming). i copied over my home save data and redownloaded a few choice games when i got the second system. i did not copy any actual game save files but i think you can do it. you just cant copy anything that has been downloaded from the store (damn digital copyrights) good luck and happy redownloading. oh just thought of something. IMPORTANT. on your old system when your done doing all of what you want to do with it and your are gonna chuck it before you do....do this....turn it on sign in yadayada. go to account management then somewhere in there (not sure exactyly where) you will find 'DEACTIVATE SYSTEM' or 'SYSTEM ACTIVATION' go in there under GAME and VIDEO and make sure this old system is DEACTIVATED for both.ok because any one user name can only have 5 systems activated per account. so if you dont then your account will be short 1 because of your old system. does anyone else know about this? ok its important if you share your psn store content with friends and family. did you know that you can share your downloaded content with people only 5 systems though including your own? if you run into any major problems gordo just post or pm me

I am having issues with my Ps3... I tried playing LOTR last night and it said... game data corrupted.. erase game data, or something like that!!! WTF is wrong with it? It also says the same thing when I try to play my other games. I erased my old game data from LOTR, BUT IT STILL SAYS DATA GAME CORRUPTED!!! Is there something wrong with my Ps3??? Should I take it into Best Buy??? Or do I reset to factory mode??? HELP!!!!!!

Thanks for your help Adan ;D As it turned out my hard drive was pretty much fried... But the good news is that I got a replacement PS3 which is better than the one I originally had!! I had a 80GB and ended up with a 160 GB Uncharted Drakes Fortune bundle pack!!!. So i got a better PS3, a new game, a new controller,( which I desperately needed), a brand new 2yr warranty, and a $50 gift card for Best Buy!!! I passed on the PS3 slim. I like my bulky one better!! ;D Thank gawd for the Best Buy warranties... I made out like a bandit!!! Whooo Hoooo!!!
