I'm not saying mages are bad I am say more than 2 mages on a team is unnecessary let alone 6 or more of them!! It changes the game play. In conquest sure go mage..everyone else does. But in a clan battle of tdm why not mix it up? I would just be happier to fight a clan battle with 1 or 2 mages. Or better yet 2 of each class. It's just a suggestion..I thought it would be FUN instead of PAINfull lol.

Lancing mage spam boil Pt II (code name 'operation certain death') For normal TDM: a couple of scouts are required to take down shield bearers all the while a few warriors to lure & distract offending Mage spam, all followed by usual volleys of arrows & blades. Any deaths taken for the team will be awarded with posthumous book vouchers.

Another idea is also just to make every clan have to use 2 of each class. That way it involves skill and strategy to win. i agree with jonathan

Well, if people still insist on mage spamming then it would be great if some of them would split up and be useful in other places. Maybe you could hang with an archer or warrior and play support, or use fire wall to expose scouts in CTR. Mages require the least creativity to be effective with, so it's up to the player (if they want) to make it more interesting and strategic. A good healing support mage is worth it's weight in gold in TDM because every time you heal someone, that may be one less death for your team to suffer. The most annoying thing about mage spamming is the utter lack of skill (thus, fun) involved to clusterfuck, so I encourage the many mage spammers out there to try and at least be more creative and interesting with your mage play. That way, everyone can have more fun and you might even become a better all around player in the process.

seriously though, it takes skill and strategy to beat a team of mages as well. And if you fail you have to take some responsibility for that instead of johning about mage spam.

Yeah sure, I'll take full responsibility for not being able to beat 4 mages at once. All I'm saying is, it's more fun (for me anyways) when players exercise more diversity.

Well, of you're not going to beat 4 mages at once. But is that really so much their fault for being mages, or yours for going 1v4? Or maybe your teammates for not working with you as a group to take down a group?
I think the greatest strength of mage packs comes NOT from the fact that they are mages, but simply because they are staying in a group. There is power in numbers. My theory is that an equal number of varied classes should stand a decent chance of beating a group of mages. The only reason they seem overpowered is because people keep trying to go at them outnumbered, and of course you're not going to stand a chance as a warrior against 3-5 mages, but you won't stand a chance going 1 against 3-5 of any class mix.

Well, as it stands, I'm just going to have to get used to over maged games because thats what the reality seems to be. I have my own little fantasy's about how great things would be if only. If mages were not overpowered, the issue of mage spamming would have never come up so what we are dealing with here is the effect of an imbalance in game design. So, my choices are either to get used to it and quit bitching about it, or simply stop playing when it stops being fun.......or both. So we'll see how it goes

Well, i don't think the mage class is overpowered any more than the archer is. It's just that staying in a group, no matter what the classes, is a very strong tactic (unless it's a group of all scouts or something).

There was a gandalf spam last night wormronge tactic worked in part (I was awful playing through my bedtime). tactic needs 2 wormtongues coordinated , light the suicide belt (10 sec fuse) both run like stink to the Spamdalfs. If possible countdown last 3 secs for archers & co to set up killing blows.
I didn't keep to this tactic last night (rush of blood an all that) (I've been on the phone to my spawn rape councilor all day)

Operation Certain Death PT III see above
A problem on PS3 & 360 alike. Any Advice on magespam counter tactics welcome. I'd hate to counter by using magespam much prefer to use warrior class (any advice from experienced PS3 & xbox players?)

Well ronjons, breaking up a mage harem is not something 1 lone fighter should do unless you know you have backup and are willing to die. As BM suggested, mage spamming is an effective technique, however lame and unimaginative. The problem is, it takes some concentrated teamwork, co-ordination and skill to break up mage harems, and without mics for every team member this is very difficult. It takes no skill and strategy to group together and firespam everything, so effective as it may be, it's a cowardly way to play with mages. All you can really do, is hope your teammates are behind you and don't use combos. 1 firewall can kill you in half the time it take to do a combo. Just keep those axes flying and sword flaming and you may can take out at least one on your way out. I agree that Grima is the best way to deal with Gandalf spamming. In fact the more they spam, they the more danger they are in. The secret is to count to ten every time you light up.

Mages are strong, but archers are just as good if not better in tdm.

The reason I started this thread is mainly because I would like to have a clan battle that is a balanced class game. That means not 5 of any class. In fact I will talk with my ladies team and we will have to take a challenge to the challenge boards for a 2 of each class clan battle. I think this would be extremely fun...for a change which is the point of playing this game (isn't it?).
