Anyone planning on getting this when it comes out today?
I'm fuckin' terrible at 2D fighters, to be honest ( I'm a beast in Soul Calibur though ), but I've always liked this game as a big comic book fan. I'll get absolutely stomped online, but I can have enough fun dicking around with it by myself. I don't think I ever won a match online in SF4 but I had a good enough time playing it anyway. It would be cool to know if any of you guys are getting it but aren't experts either so I'd at least have someone to play against that won't make my anus hurt.
I'm still a little on the fence about it, since it IS paying $15 for a game I technically already own ( but it's the PS2 version and my PS3 isn't one of the BC ones so it's kind of moot ). I'm considering getting the new Battlefield instead, since I don't really have any shooters on the PS3, but still leaning more toward MvC2.

Dammit, you beat me to making this topic. /rage
I'll be furiously refreshing the Playstation store around 5pm today and hope to get the game the instant it hits the store. I've been waiting for this for a while now.
As far as being good, I'm probably in the same boat as you. I've only ever played with a friend when I was like 10 and more recently at a local arcade. I only learned how to do specials and other random intricacies through the demo.

I really like that game. I was pretty good when it was in arcades. Some people were really annoyed with me because I prefer long range characters. Can't attack me if you can't reach me My favorite characters are Blackheart, Shuma Gorath and Doctor Doom. I also have the PS2 version. Might get this one but I think that online will be hard. Hardcore players usually use a joystick because it is harder to pull off certain moves with a regular controller.

Never really got in to this game. Everyone always made a big stink over it, but it just never did anything for me.
I'm more of a Tekken/Virtua Fighter fan. 2D isn't really my thing - aside from a little Street Fighter every now and then.

I would say I'm pretty good at this game. Not unstoppable but whenever I played it in arcades, I tend to stay for a long time. And strider, I'll play ya street fighter, Im still a nub in it but I've gotten better.

2d fighting is where it's at. I detest 3d fighting games.

I love 2d fighting! I suck at it though ;D. Not all 3d fighters are bad , Tekken, but I'd say the most solid and difficult 3d fighter would be the Virtua Fighter series.

3d fighters are sort of button mashers to me.

Try any game of the virtua fighter series Hanz. I can guarantee they are not button mashers. You can get away somewhat with pressing whatever button combination on arcade mode. But try that on kumite mode and you'll be smoked !

I'm already getting smoked on this game, haha. I'll destroy on Street Fighter 4 though.

3d fighters are sort of button mashers to me. All fighters are button mashers to an extent. However, it takes a great deal of skill to be good at a 3D fighter. Just as it does with 2D. Of course there are characters that have greater 'ease of use' (IE: The Mage in LotR:C)...but a button masher wouldn't get far against me in Tekken or Virtua Fighter.
