Often when log on to Tunngle I see a dozen people in the room and nobody playing. What I think is happening is that 10 people join the Tunngle room because they want to play, then see that nobody else is playing, and just sit there waiting for a game to start. News flash: Games don't start themselves! If just ONE of those 10 people joined an empty game, the other 9 would probably join and you'd all have a good time. So next time you log on and see the servers are empty, try joining a game and tell everyone else to join. Or find a partner and do some 1v1s until some more players arrive. Also, if you are in a duelling server and it's full, consider moving to one of the 8v8 servers so there's space for other people to join. This has been a public service announcement

I often see this. Its annoying because I want a good game but people are just sitting there.
Another annoying thing is that people create their own games instead of using the servers. Why use a lag infested server when you can enjoy a normal game on the paid server?

That doesn't even make sense.
The dedicated servers are IN EUROPE. So there's no way it's a proximity issue. There's also no way anyone hosting a game from their computer can even come close to rivaling the speeds from DEDICATED servers.
So if you are getting lag that means it has to be something on your end causing the problem, and if that's the case then there's no explanation for why that same problem wouldn't manifest itself in user made games as well.

I agree, lot of times that i just want to join a server and is all empty except a private server created by some clan with like 6 or 8 persons, when i, and other people join they just say its private for the clan. I think that we are already so few playing that it would be nice if we all play together...

Well,i think you speak about FRH? They like to make special fights with their specific rules and etc. And for them the connection to their host is miles better ( I guess it's the onliest reason of that). And what connects about my conn, I have no idea, why it changed. I can repeat once again: on first week i got perfect connection to server, and then, after first settings change it changed for me (I already spoke to Onde, but she said that she hadn't change settings a lot). I checked with some guys from my clan, and we found out that many of us, have no lagg at all on mine server, when they have them on dedicated.

yeah the dedicated server connection SUCKS for some reason I have the same problem as frei it was really better before and now I'm always in slow motion and it can't be my computer because I try everything like clean and defrag it though it could also be the distance from the server affecting my lag. If it's going in slow motion, it's probably just your computer. Some computers simply can't run the game well no matter what you do to them. Server lag would be more like everyone teleporting or your character doing the same action multiple times.

@ Frei and tridek We actually switched to a different server a couple weeks ago. Is it still the same problem for you? I've tried very hard to figure out what the problem is with Frei's connection, and his ping is quite good so latency is not the problem. The only setting that we changed was that we forced the maximum UDP packet size to be as small as possible, so that information is sent from the server in smaller chunks and less frequently (to reduce latency (lag)). I can see no logical reason why this would cause you to lag MORE rather than LESS, but if you can find any information that explains how this could be a problem, please show me. Considering nobody else seems to be having this problem, I think it's more likely to be something on your end, either with your router's settings or your PC. There could be some kind of hold-up or buffering somewhere along the way - you're not trying to play over a proxy server are you? A proxy server is a very bad idea imo (which could include various types of "privacy manager" programs and the like).
I will say that one of my PCs has started to get bad graphics lag on the servers lately when it used to run just fine for hours, so you might want to check carefully for other causes that may have just SEEMED to coincide with modifying the maximum UDP packet size on the server. In my case, I probably just need to clear up some hard drive space and vacuum the dust out of my graphics card. Test out how the game runs in campaign mode - if it runs smoothly in campaign but slowly online, then it is the internet connection. Otherwise you know for sure that it's your PC. Also check if you installed any Windows Updates around the time when it got bad. You might even try using System Restore to revert to a restore point that was made before the connection got "bad" and see if that makes any difference. That will tell you if some new settings/drivers/updates on your PC are causing the problem.

^ That's a glitch in the game, tridek. Nothing to do with connection. You fix it by not looking at the score while you're respawning (specifically, don't toggle the score menu on/off at the same time as the respawn counter reaches 0).

Tridek that's just a glitch. It happens to everyone.

Tridek I saw another topic where you said your game runs slow even if you host your own instant action game. That's clearly something on your PC or your own internet connection (probably your PC). 4 out of 5 complaints I get about lag are related to people's PCs being below the minimum specs for the game. Every time I hear that "lots of people" have a bad connection, it turns out to be 1 or 2 people. As soon as I see evidence that there's REALLY a problem with the server, I'll look into it. But PLEASE don't go around telling people the connection sucks. That's really the last thing we need right now when we're trying to get more players on If your PC is below the minimum specs, especially on the graphics card, you WILL lag and it is nothing to do with the server. I'm happy to help, but again - PLEASE try not to create a bad impression for players who are thinking of coming back to the game.

Just sayin, I have a really good pc and the only time I ever experience lag on the servers is on Rivendell, and that's just because of how graphics intensive it is. Otherwise the servers are really good for me.

Does anyone know if there was an additional license agreement that came with the DLC packs? There are reasons I may not be able to do this, even if it is technically possible. So far everything we've done with CNQReboot is clean and within the license agreements of the game and dedicated server program. I want to avoid doing anything... unwise.
