Hello, all! I have no time for a serious Gaming to deal with, a little later onward.
My name is Misbane, (Also my PSN account name) and I come from many multiplayer-worlds! (Included are, Metal Gear Online, Resident Evil 5, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare & 3, and more!)
I am at the time-being, exclusively a Playstation 3 Gamer. (From which I type this Paragraph!) And a Avid; Hardcore Gamer.
Lord of the Rings: Conquest being no exception.
I bought this game, when it was first released, but my PC days are done, and my computer cannot handle the requirements needed.
So, I must ask: Is there still a way to play online for the Playstation 3 System?
I have so much faith in this game's multiplayer! (I bought it twice!) Is there any hope for my game, or should I give up?
P.S. I heard somewhere, that Gamespy bought over Conquest's Servers. Is this true?
Lord Misbane

Sorry Lord Misbane, the Ps3 Lotr conquest online has sailed on. PC seems the way to go and thankfully some members here like Onde, John is George and Mayhem have gone to extensive measures to ensure the integrity of the game shall remain preserved. PS3 version in and of itself as a game, without the online, is ok..........more fun if you have a local buddy to play co op story mode. It's cheap enough at this point to justify i good co op romp IMO.

hey burnz that reminds me - why in Tolkein's name haven't you joined us on PC yet? I would have thought you to be one of the first. Surely a dedicated warrior such as yourself could not have found it so easy to put down The Sword? Don't you remember those countless hours, satiating your bloodlust in the great glory of Battle? Revive the molten blade. BURNZILLA!!!

Nice Pic BM. In answer to your question misbane the answer is simply no. Pc is now the only way to play conquest again. I did look into getting it back on ps3 however it is not possible. Also as far as I know no one has bought the conquest servers, they have been shut down forever.

Jesus Christ that's fuckin' awesome BM! But yeah, I haven't gotten on the PC train because I only have Macs and I'm not even sure if they have the game for Mac and if so, are there any players?

mac is not a seperate system lol. Pretty sure you should be able to play the same game we're playing, though you might need to jump through an extra hoop or two. Someone here more tech savvy than I can help you for sure.

I think the answer is "No".
Macs now use the same hardware as other PCs but the operating system is very different at the core. Actually I think the main reason - possibly the only reason - few games are supported on Linux and Macs is because they use DirectX almost exclusively. And DirectX being yet another fine monopoly-building piece of software, it is not available on Macs or Linux (please correct me if this has changed). You can TRY running a Windows virtual machine on a Mac but I doubt you will be able to use any accelerated graphics features and even if you could, the game would probably run slowly due to the extra layer of abstraction between the game and the hardware. Plus, translating one graphics library to another on the fly is going to be buggy - you're lucky enough if you have a graphics driver that's (*apparently*) bug-free... start stacking one piece of complex software on top of another and another, all written by different people, and shit just hits the fan. It's not impossible, but I'd be surprised/impressed if it worked.
If anyone out there has a Mac and wants to try out LOTRC on a virtual machine, I'd be very curious to hear how it works. Chub Chub Ninja said he was playing Conquest on a "Windows compatible Mac" - I have no idea what that means but maybe that's something worth asking, too.

Yeah, I would have assumed running windows on mac would be the best bet, but you certainly know how to put a damper on that idea.

Well you can always install Windows and set up your PC to dual-boot either operating system. Sounds like OSX has got some built in support for setting up a dual-boot system with Windows, www.apple.com/macosx/compatibility/ (Lol they make it sound so flashy). Maybe that's what Chub was talking about. That's what I'd do. I wouldn't touch virtual machine + DirectX with a ten-foot pole. Just type "dual boot windows mac" into Google.
