Yeah windsurfing looked cold and they had full on body suits. So I may wait until I go to SoCal to try it. Hawaii would be nice...

Wish I had an ocean nearby. I'm stuck with the septic tank that is known as Lake Ontario.
Hawaii sounds nice...maybe I'll move there. Or Mehico...heard the surf there is secksy.

I don't know how to swim either, and absolutely despise the ocean and get extremely pissed off whenever I'm soggy. I also have an irrational fear of whales.

I also have an irrational fear of whales. LOL. I guess it's not that irrational, since whales are huge and could crush you, but I can't help but laugh when I think of the following scenario playing out: at the beachStarscream's friend: Hey, let's go for a swim. Starscream: NO! There might be WHALES in there!

Oh, that's actually happened more than once.
Seriously, I'd rather fight a shark than a whale. Free Willy is scarier than Jaws to me.

D: I could understand fear of an orca, but not something like a humpback whale, albeit being huuuge. it'd barely notice you let alone be interested in nibbling. does this have some sort of catalyst? I'm genuinely intrigued.

Usually when I meet someone new and it comes up I make up an elaborate story about a childhood trip to Sea World gone wrong or my father being a sea captain, but there isn't really anything specific that brought it on.
I've always assumed it's just some kind of instinctual reaction to fearing something so much larger than you. But even pictures kind of creep me out, there's just something creepy to me about the way they look. I know for some animals that's an intentional natural defense, but I don't think so here.
Like I said, I know it's pretty irrational and that they're mostly docile animals and wouldn't give a damn if I was floating five feet in front of it ( though there are over a dozen direct orca attack deaths a year, and several boating accidents caused by breaching whales. I know my enemy ). But I mean, most people are scared of things that don't even exist, so it's not THAT bad.
