i think the most important person in the case of the DESTRUCTION of the ring was sauron for the CREATION of the ring.
it had to start somewhere.

i think it was gollum cause if he had never bit off frodos finger then the ring would still go on forever

ohh yeah and if frodo havent had been so attached gollum would have got away but frodo pushed him off the edge

i say sauron, since he was the one who was in charge of all the evil forces, and the fact that he shouldn't have put his powers in the ring in the first place, so i agree with stephenbee.
