I have unfortunately wireless for my PS3. I'm playing along then all of a sudden "no connection detected" (I think), comes up and everything gets jerky like taking 2 steps forward & 1 step back, or I stop all of a sudden but I'm still moving, as well as horses standing still are running! I don't take drugs, this is just how my flipping blasted internet is. There is nothing worse for an archer trying to take a critical head shot when this crap happens. Has anyone out there noticed my weird moves sometimes when this happens? Do I have to invest in cable internet through my tv to end this misery? Because this is sure to drive me to any early grave with frustration!

Go to your ps3 settings and you can check your wireless strength. Mine did this last week after I moved my ps3 to a new tv and I was only getting 24% signal strength. I moved my wireless router to a different room in the house. Now I have 65% strength and no problems. Unless my wife is downloading a file on the computer hogging my bandwith! I've expressed my displeasure at this many a time! Doesn't seem to matter though.....

I get about 72% signal strength and not able to move the wireless router to a different place. I have people in the area that 'take" my signal (newbie tech illiterate), and having a password protection is not an option (oh the joys of living at work are ceaseless, grrr), so I'm basically screwed unless I fork out the dough for hard wired internet.

Unfortunately it is one of the issues of playing on the internet. The one that bugs me a lot is when I get thrown out of a room. Note that it could be a problem on their end and not yours.
If you look at the far right side of the room selection page, there is a column saying Ping with a colored circle for each room. The circle is usually green, which means everything is good. But sometimes you'll see it turn orange, red or grey. Grey means not available and red means it's going to lag like crazy.

Ya I noticed that, I just assumed in my ignorant newbie ways it was just that green means good to go, red was full!
I still want to smash my head against a brick wall in frustration though! Or have the enemy plant an axe right in the middle of my forehead (you know who you are)! Peal of laughter ensues.

Don't bash yourself in the head. We all have to start somewhere (and I'll be happy to bash your head for you )

I go through phases where I have consistent connection problems for a spell, then it goes back to normal. That's what kept me from BM's tournament was connection problems. I have no idea what thats all about because GTA will work just fine. Redwurd already knows where to go for a good head bashing.

Buy an Ethernet cable and hook up directly. Some of you have some awful connections... 12%!??!
Go to NewEgg.com and look up Ethernet cables. Very cheap (don't waste your money at dept. stores) and you can get them up to 100 Feet long.
Luckily, my router is about 5 feet from my PS3...so even playing wirelessly my signal strength is 99% most of the time. But, when I play (used to rather) clan matches in SOCOM...I usually hook up directly - that's always the best way to go.

I play with my router in another room and I usually don't have any problems unless I'm torrenting or uploading (in which case I can't play because of the lag). Then again, my connection is pass protected, so I'm not sharing it with anyone. But it seems you can't do that, so I you probably should just go for an ethernet cable.
Hm, I never actually checked my signal strength. I'll be interested to do it when I get back.

There are alot of factors that play apart with wireless.
1: if there any other devices using the wireless will cause lag 2: Red you need to put a password on ur internet (y cant you) 3: Dsl wireless is horrible, the filter that has to be put on the line causes interference.
Best wirelss router is a netgear. You can purchase a ACCESS Point and install it and it will boost your signal. Its just a Attenna.
Ideal wireless setup, Cable internet, passworded, access point installed close to p23 ( can be in the attic). My internet is 54 mb transfer.

Redwurd, if you set up a password for your internet then you'll definitely won't be lagging anymore. Couple of questions for you if you don't mind. 1. Who's your internet provider? If Rogers or Bell, you get like 60GB max of download and if others have free access to it cause you don't have a password then they can download massively and you could even end up getting charged extra if they go over the 60GB download limit. 2. Why can't you password protect it? 3. What type of router do you have? If you have a linksys router, I can send you a pm or post instructions for setting up a password for your internet.

I'm thinking I'm basically screwed, but if any tech mages out there can heal this (yup dumb attempt to lotr it), I would be ever so thankful! Oh forgot to mention, the computer with the modem & d-link is complete old shite!
