Before this board die, i decide to show to everyone my knowledge about how use the scout, i know is really unuseful but i fell like doing it anyway. You can use this strats vs npc or with your friends or something like that
1st i have to say, what this quote said about cowardice is bs, I'm sure even BM (he wrote that) don't think the same now
The scout is the most underrated class, bcuz his bad melee range, low health, how hard is bs someone, etc. The scout is a team support class, a good scout have to play for his team not for himself .
Basic Scout Use
1-Melee: Medium damage and pathetic range, you need skills to use melee with scout, not everyone can, even a few of the players in honorable mention in the awards don't know how use melee. IMO if someone don't use melee with scout he sucks
2-Satchel Bomb: Hard to aim and do alot of damage, a direct satchel hit take 45-50% of mages/archers health. If you don't use satchel you sucks, if you don't think that you sucks even more. Throwing the satchel is extremely useful to BS and grab someone with your combos.
3-Cloak: You become "invisible", you cant be touched by lighting, the warriors cant lock on the axe (if you don't know what is the axe lock on you sucks), you don't appear on the radar/minimap and you can BS (backstab not bullshit)
4-Backstab: Is a OHKO to all the classes. If you want to be a good bs'er you need: 1- Intelligence 2- Good reflexes 3- Alot of practice
5-Roll: This really can help you to survive, with good timing no mage can hit you with lighting and no archers can hit you with a direct arrow. Rolling is the best way to capture the ring and the best way to stall the enemy
Advanced Scout Use
1- Melee special attacks: Maybe the scout don't hit hard or don't have a good range but if you know how use this special attacks you can do alot of damage:
-Light special attack: This is the special attack with more "range", the damage is good and also this stun your enemy
-Medium special attack: This is the strongest special attack. The numbers of kick you do depends of the numbers of time you press the button, the max is 3, after you do the 3 kicks if you press the light attack button you end with an uppercut, you also can end the combo with a heavy attack (IMO this option is better than the uppercut)
-Heavy special attack: This only should be used to end an almost dead enemy or to end the medium special attacks combo. If you want to break a blocking enemy is better using the satchel most of the time
2-Air melee: The air scout's attack are the best way to use scout melee. All the air attacks have different purpose:
- Light attack: This is the easier air attack to land. This can be used to make jumping enemies fall on their backs and help you to hit a invisible scout trying to BS you
- Medium attack: This is the more useful air attack. This is used to make enemy "bounce" in front of you and giving you a good opportunity to use your melee or throw a satchel
- Heavy attack: This is the stronger air attack. This take 30-35% health of mages/archer, this is used to hit a enemy in the floor really hard
The air attack also can be chained to make them even more useful, The chain attacks are:
- X+light atk+medium atk: This is the more useful chain attack. You can grab "easily" your enemy with the 1st attack and make him bounce with the 2nd
- X+light atk+heavy atk: This attack hit really hard, this take 40% of mage/archer health
3-Jumping Cloak: This little trick can be the difference between a great scout and a elite scout. This consist in jumping, doing an air attack and pressing the cloaking button, you can do this infinite number of time, but you need a good "rhythm" for doing this. This is helpful bcuz you can attack and remain cloaked.
4-Rolling Cloak: This is a good trick, is not anything amazing but this can help. To do a rolling cloak you just need to press to the cloaking button before ending the roll. This is used to being cloaked after rolling, that is useful bcuz you can dodge a lighting and become cloak to avoid the next lighting
Elite use of the scout
This part is longer than the other bcuz the strategies are alot more complicated and harder to do but are alot more useful
1-How really use the scout melee:
A- The satchel bomb is your best friend, before trying anything else you have to throw your satchel, you don't have to make a direct hit with the satchel every time, knocking down your enemy is always useful
B- You always have to try to kill everyone by the fastest way possible, faster you kill less possibility of dieing you have, don't be cheap with your special power bcuz that help you kill faster than with regular melee
C- The scout have something that no other class have, the cloak, use the cloak to attack you enemy, use the surprise factor to kill your enemy in a easier way
D- Only 1 of your attacks stun (light spc atk), use that with intelligence or you will die really quickly
Especial note: Ill give more detailed ways of how kill the other class with melee, you just need to keep reading
2-How really use the jumping cloak:
A-Before explaining this im gonna say the good things and the band things of the jumping cloak.
Bad things:
-Mages can hit you with lighting
-Warriors can lock on their axes
-You can be seen in the radar ( but only for half second every time you jump)
Good things:
-Easier BS set up
-You remain cloaked even if you are hitted by an arrow
-Harder for the opponent to know where you are when you are attacking him
B-If you lose the "rhythm" and you don't want to become visible you just need to do the rolling cloak and you can keep doing your thing.
C- Its time to explain how to do the most useful thing in the jumping cloak, setting up BS. Exist two ways to setting up a BS, both are different and depends of the situation:
- Jumping cloak with medium atk: This is the more used. Everyone who used the jumping cloak know how use this, but im gonna explain it anyway, i already said when you hit with your medium air attack your target bounce, but know you are cloaked so when he use the quick recovery he have 2 option: Rolling avoiding your melee but giving a really easy bs or jumping to dodge your bs (if you are good you can even bs him jumping, sometimes only) and giving a good opportunity to use melee
- Jumping cloak with light atk: Almost no one use this, bcuz no one (not literally, maybe someone know) know the real use of this technique. This is useful when the enemy is blocking (obviously only warriors and scout) that stun them for a sec an giving you an "easy" bs. I learn this trick from the fob in the last weeks of lotrc (after he used this against me ), this give you the upper hand against any warrior and scout in 1on1 situation.
3- How really use bs: Im not gonna lose my time explaining how use easy bs when someone already did that for me, check gold's guide to know more about that. Im gonna talk about the more difficult kind of bs:
A- BS a jump canceling mage, you need a lot of prediction and great reflexes. You have to predict where the mage is going to land and press the bs button just before he touch the ground, sounds easy but is not, you need a lot of practice before doing this every time, you can also wait until the mage throw the firewall or use the shockwave, that give you 1 sec to bs him.
B- Satchel and bs after the quick recovery (my specialty ): The name explain almost all the trick, throw a satchel, press the cloak button, run to your enemy and bs him. When you make a direct hit with the satchel your enemy always are gonna land giving you his back, you just need to bs in the exact moment, if you know when is the exact moment the enemy cant do anything only dying by a bs, but you need to press the cloaking button just after throwing the satchel or you don't gonna be ready to do the bs
4- Killing with the scout: Im gonna give a detailed explanation of how killing all the 4 classes:
A- Archer: Archers are your worse enemy by far, if they poison you. you are dead, the multi arrow make you being uncloaked and 1 fire arrow kill you. You only can kill a archer who know where you are in short range, in any other way is almost impossible. I know a few option to kill an archer
:
-Sneak behind him with the cloak and bs him, this don't need alot of explanation, just try to be unseen and be careful with the random multishot. This is a easy kill but when you bs him you lose your special power.
-Sneak behind him with the cloak and kill him with melee, is almost the same thing than the last time, but this time you gain special power. IMO the best combo to kill an archers in this situation is 2light atk + 2heavy atk + medium spc atk
-Close range vs an archer who knows where you are, the 1st thing you have to do is throw the satchel satchel nothing else, if you miss the satchel in close range you are dead bcuz the archer are gonna hit you with the poison 90% of the time ( estimated). After that you have alot of things to kill the archer, im going to name a few: 1) medium atk jumping cloak and bs him 2) light+medium air attack and end him with a light or medium special atk 3) light spc atk + 2 or 3light atk or medium spc atk
B-Mage: A lot of ppl think a scout cant kill a mage, if you are one of the ppl who thinks that you sucks. The fireball can kill you really fast but you can dodge it, is not easy but is not really hard neither. The shockwave can hit you hard but is so slow and predictable, shouldnt be to much problem. The lighting hurt you alot (everything hurt you alot lol) but you can dodge it, not just rolling bcuz some mage can predict the roll and hit you (yes bm im talking about you), you have to use the mage lack of movement to dodge the lighting, closer you are harder is for him to hit you with the lighting, im not saying you just have to get close to him you have to start playing with the mage camera running around him, rolling when you need to and making unpredictable moves, that will make the mage use the predictable shockwave and you can start kicking the mage ass. I talked about how avoid recieving damage from the mage, is time to say how damage the mage:
- Kill a shielding mage with a bs: I dont have to explain this
- Kill a shielding mage with melee: Is really easy, sneak inside his shield (obviusly cloaked) and do this simple combo: 2light atk + light spc atk + medium spc atk or (if you enought power) 2light atk. Using the light spc atk is a most, if you dont you are dead
- Kill a jump canceling mage with a bs: You can do a normal bs, a jumping cloak bs or a satchel bs, your choice but imo the normal bs is the best option
- Kill a jump canceling mage with melee: The 1st you have to do is satchel, if you miss just stall the mage until you have the satchel again. After that you have to do the the light spc atk bcuz is your ONLY way to stun the mage, and tto end the mage you can use medium spc atk or 2light atk, depending of the situation.
C-Scout: To kill another scout you only have two option, bs when he is disstracted or kill him in a 1on1, im not going to explain the number one. To kill another scout in a 1on1 you have to take in count some things:
- Seting up a bs is the best way to kill the other scout without receiving alot of damage
- The satchel is your best friend and your worse enemy
- Always know where your enemy is
- Air attacks are your best melee option
To kill another scout in a 1on1 you need alot of prediction and you have to know how trick your oponent and make him do mistakes. Always throw your satchel but never throw it directly to him, throw the satchel to the place where you think he is going to roll, and when he throw a satchel look exactly where he is throwing the satchel, if you hit him with a satchel you have the oportunity of settin up a bs, just go cloaked to his back and give him two option: roll or jump and you have two options too: bs or melee. This is like a rock, paper scisor but here you have 50% chance of killing/dying. Most of the scout fights are in the air, the two scout doing the jumping cloak (if one of the scout dont know how to do the jumping cloak he will lose) , the 1st one in make a mistake is gonna end hurted or dead, again the rock, paper scisor, 1 tip if you oponent never stop jumping throw a satchel to his feet. Is your oponent is blocking alot use the light jumping cloak. This is a few of my basic strategies, i know hundreads (not literally) of strategies but all of them depend of the situatuion and your oponent, IMO if you want to be a good scout 1on1 you need practice and play using your own experience
D- Warrior: Everyone know that the warrior melee > scout melee, but the scout have 2 equalizer: Cloak and bs, with that 2 things the battle is pretty balanced. In a 1on1 situation with a warrior you have to take in count this:
- Again setting up a bs is your best option
- Stay in the ground, dont use air attack or jumping cloak if you not are 100% you are going to hit, bcuz is really easy hit you with an axe
- Warriors can kill you in 1 combo, so dont doubt in use the crowd breaker always
- The scout can auto-recharge his power, warrior cant, use that against them making him waste his power
You have to keep your distance, throw satchels and become cloaked once in awhile, dont go and fight directly against bcuz he can kill you really easy. When you are cloaked the warrior will start jumping and start attaking randomly (if he dont he is dumb) you can use that oportunity to throw a satchel and setting up a bs, for the backstab setup your best option is the light jumping cloak, bcuz if he block you can bs him and if the dont block you can chain the light atk with a heavy atk hurting him a lot. You have to know when you need to roll and when you need to dodge bcuz that can be the diference between living or dying. USE the crowd breaker in the same moment the warrior hit you, even 2 hits from him hurt you a lot. Again the best way to become good on a 1on1 against a warrior you need practice
This is the end of this guide, i dont know why i work so much doing this unuseful guide, maybe bcuz i miss using scout, no other game have something close to the scout.
1st i have to say, what this quote said about cowardice is bs, I'm sure even BM (he wrote that) don't think the same now
