Actually Bee, Gandalf used the "you shall not pass!" staff pound causing the bridge of Khazad-Dum to crumble, ultimately defeating the Balrog of Morgoth. Not really pertinent to this discussion, just wanted to interject my vast compendium of knowledge.

The only time I use glitches is when the other player i'm facing him is using the glitch. I like to face them on even grounds and that way the best player will win. Not the best glitcher.

Johnathan I'm not sure what kind of glitches are prevalent in the Xbox version, but as far as I know, there are no glitches that give 1 player a distinct advantage over another. There are certain control related tricks that some classes can use to override set animations, and they can be countered, but there is no way to cheat in the traditional sense of the word that I know of. I don't consider jump canceling or scout rolling cheap or glitchy, in fact I applaud players resourceful enough to have discovered these little gameplay loopholes. It adds another dimension of strategy to the game, thus prolonging it's life cycle. The term 'glitching' in these posts mostly refers to the ability to breach barriers in some of the maps in order to be inaccessible to the enemy players, and or, just play around in forbidden territory which we all know is fun. Players outside the bounds can be killed just as easy (by archers I imagine) so there's not that much more of an advantage if any. Is there anything in the xbox version that you have noticed that you could consider unfair or cheap? I would think they are pretty much the same game but I was just curious.

What is this jump cancelling you guys are talking about in regards to mages?

When a mage uses lightning, it takes a second or two before you he can use it again. If you jump the moment the lightning makes impact you can greatly minimize the recharge time because you can shoot it again as soon as you land from your jump. Thats why some players appear to shoot rapid fire lightning.

it increases lighting speed by 1.5x, but more importantly it keeps you mobile and more difficult to hit. Otherwise you can only walk slowly and are an easy target.

I'm not just talking about Lotr Conquest but other games that i've played online. Like Cod Waw, and NHL there are glitches that people will use on those that can greatly increase their chances of beating you.

Yeah, like Burn already said, I think that the developers never intended that to be used like that. it hardly makes sense for mages to jump around like that, someone discovered it now every "elite' mage does it.

Right, I forgot to reply to this thread... Ok time for my expert opinion!
Bm, you said: "Yes, because in lotr there were actually mages on the battle field, or warriors with flaming swords, or people who could go invisible. The game itself is so far from the source material that if you don't want to do anything "the actual characters wouldn't have done" then you would pretty much have to restrict yourself to plain melee with scouts and warriors and not use mages at all."
You very well know what I'm saying. Jump canceling just looks un-LOTR like. Sure, there were no mages in the book. But pandemic managed to somehow integrate them into the game. Jump canceling, however, is a sort of strategy that goes against the flow of the game, which destroys the whole experience for me.

Hate to say it but like it or not, jump canceling is now a part of the game and all we can do is learn to deal with it. If your in a room where there are 6 bunny hopping mages then you have every right to leave in disgust. But the likelihood of you running into it in the next match is becoming greater. My advice would be to play the mage and learn to jump cancel yourself. That way, you will be better prepared to beat them as another class because, you will know the timing and be able to work around it. The few rare times when I play mage, I do it myself because the other mage is and I have to keep up if I want to live. I'm really bad at the timing though and often will jump before the lightning even leaves my hands.

And there are Wizards, just 5 of them of though. The mage class is basically the Wizard class because they play like Souramon and Gandalf(also for some reason they decided the mouth of Sauron is a wizard of some kind)

srini people can do what they want, bm was simply discussing his mentality to games and he wanted to speak about it with people, hes right when he says mage and scout were not in the books. jump cancelling is just a part of the game and you need to face that. you do what you want and everybody else do what you want to do. its a game, games are strategic any way they are played no matter what level it is on. bm was sharing his , views thts wat a forum is for . agree or disagree theres no point going on about it , hes still going to use this tactic.

At hanz, I think he meant that we never read about wizards and scouts in the infantry, in the books.
Generally If it's a forum, there's no point agreeing or disagreeing! We have to share our views, and try to make the other at least think about what we're saying. However, not for one moment am I saying I'm exclusively right. Or for that matter, exclusively wrong. .

I saw another thread... And have come upon the following conclusion.
If you are mostly playing to win, then JC is a tactic that you think is fantastic. In fact, you go outta your way to find tactics that give you that small advantage.
If you are playing for the fun of it, and also to win (like me). Winning comes second priority to the fun in playing the game. I'd rather lose without JCing than win with JCing. But that's just me.

what is playing for fun? You think people who play to win aren't also having fun? No one would play a game if they didn't find it to be fun.
And winning itself is fun. If you say that you would rather lose without jump canceling, does that mean you think losing is fun?
