Announcing: The first ever Mithril Knights Warrior 1v1 tournament!
Saturday, Dec. 12th (Xbox 360) / Sunday, Dec. 13th (PS3), 2PM EST: Trials
Saturday, Dec. 19th (Xbox 360) / Sunday, Dec. 20th (PS3), 2PM EST: FINAL
Please register BY FRIDAY, DEC. 11th. You can register by responding to this thread, sending me a PM, or messaging "SOR Burzum" (Xbox LIVE) or "SOR_Burzum" (PSN). Please include which console you use and what your LIVE/PSN name is. The list of participants will be posted here.
FORMAT:
Trials: Each participant plays 3 different opponents per random selection (pulling names out of a hat). The top 16 players out of the trials will go on to the final.
Final: The final will consist of 5 rounds. The players with the top 4 trial scores will go straight through to round 3; the players with the 4 next-best scores will go straight through to round 2, and the remaining 8 players will fight the first round. The 4 winners of round 1 will join the other round 2 finalists, then the 4 winners of round 2 will join the other round 3 finalists. Round 4 will then consist of 4 players (2 matches) and round 5 is the final match. For rounds 1 to 3 there will be a match time-limit of 20 minutes (that allows 1 minute per kill in the worst case). If time runs out and the score is tied, the players will have one more fight as a tie-breaker. In total, the final should take about 3 hours (though it is unlikely that any player will participate in all rounds). A time-limit will not be enforced in the final 2 rounds. The tentative schedule is as follows (times in EST, or GMT-5):
Round 1: 2:00 PM
Round 2: 2:30 PM
Round 3: 3:00 PM
Round 4: 3:30 PM
Final Match: 4:15 PM
RULES:
- All matches are "first to 10" with respawn (winner of each fight respawns so that both players always start with full health and equal power).
- All matches must take place in a public server (ranked/unranked server on Xbox 360 or an EA server on PS3) OR in a private match (friend server on PS3) HOSTED BY A THIRD PARTY.
- Before each fight, players must "dance" (repeatedly press LT/L2) to indicate they are ready to start.
- Heroes are not allowed (we could have a separate hero tournament though...)
- Horses/wargs, Oliphaunts, ballistas, etc. are not allowed.
- A Mithril Knights member should be present for all matches (though this need not be strictly enforced.. we just don't want people we don't know showing up with BS results that nobody can verify)
- You may not leave the arena during the fight (there's no penalty, but just don't...). Acceptable arenas are: Rivendell Waterfall (all modes), Osgiliath Bridge (all modes), Mines of Moria Hall (CTR only), Helm's Deep Throne Room (all modes).
- If a fight is interrupted (one of you loses health due to outside interference), the fight must be started over. Knocking somebody off the edge does not count as a kill, nor does it subtract a kill from your opponent.
(If this all sounds a bit complicated, don't worry - just show up and we'll tell you what to do.)
The results of all matches (including rematches) must be recorded and will be made public on this forum. The final result of a match is based on the number of kills listed for each player, NOT the team score that shows up in the corner of the screen. If the match is played in TDM mode, set the max. number of kills higher than 10 so the match doesn't immediately end at 10 (and you have a chance to write down the score).
We will be keeping win/loss statistics which will be added to our existing list of player stats. PS3 results and Xbox 360 results will be kept separate. Some of the matches will also be recorded on video and made available to the public on the internet so if you have any problem with this, please let us know ahead of time.
If you can't make the trials, you may make special arrangements to play your matches at a different time. However, you MUST be able to participate in the final. In the final, if you are not online when it's your turn to fight, you will be skippeYou will still have the opportunity to challenge for a place in the ranking but you lose your chance to win the tournament.d.
You are welcome to join Mithril Knights for practice and training on Wednesdays on Xbox 360 and Tuesdays on PS3! Good luck - and please spread the word!
