night owl was such a bitch though. Rorschach, Dr. Manhattan, and Ozymandias were all cool. He wasn't a "bitch" he was "sensitive" lol. Oh ok he was a bitch but so what. He had the same Clark Kent nerdy appeal with the underlying hotness. I like a guy who isn't always boasting about how great he is, and has insecurities so he isn't just a overconfident prick. But in the end he was strong and kicked ass.

Great, I'm surrounded by video game and LOTR dorks but I'm the only one who's into comics? Figures.
Well, I've been a fan of the comic for a long time. It isn't exactly the kind of thing I look for in a comic, but I could never deny how well written and drawn it was and how much impact it had on the medium. It's required reading for any comic fan, and one of Time's Top 100 Novels of all time for a reason.
I liked the movie, but I still feel a lot was lost in the transistion to screen. It's very accurate to the vision and the story ( until they fuck up the ending ), but I just think a lot of it doesn't work as a movie and what does will be completely lost to the movie audience.
Watching the movie it comes off as nothing but a big bit of social commentary. While that stuff has always been there and obvious, the main purpose of the story was supposed to be a commentary, breakdown, and observation on comic books in general and the superhero genre. Yes, the "why can't we all just get along?" message was always there, but it was ALWAYS more about the author's thoughts on superheroes and comics in general. There's still a little bit of that in there in the movie, but it doesn't really go beyond "heroes are fucked up people," and what other intricacies are there will be lost to anyone who doesn't follow actual comics.
When I first saw the stills and stuff of the characters dressed up in the "all leather because it's a movie lol" outfits, I thought they were going to change things around to be the same thing to superhero MOVIES while keeping the same spirit. I kind of wish they went that route instead.
I don't really care for the changed ending that much. It doesn't ruin the movie, it just makes me wonder why they did it. I know that what actually happened in the comic would be pretty weird and fucked up to see on the big screen. The problem is they left a lot of the hints toward the "real" ending in the movie, and they all came off just weird and out of place without the actual place they were supposed to lead to. I mean, Bubastis ( the CGI purple cat ) was a huge part of the reveal at the end of the comic, but without that ending, he's just kind of there for absolutely no reason making people go "Um, what the fuck is with the purple cat?"
The result of the new ending was the same as the comic, basically, but it made less sense. "America's weapon backfired on them? Okay, we can be friends now." Seems more like they should go "Well, now they're weak, let's fuck 'em up!"
tl;dr: I liked it but feel the real message was lost in translation and wish they didn't change the end.

I did enjoy the movie and read the comic. They did a good job on the movie and managed to get the same atmosphere and look from the comic.
I recommend everyone to read the comic. It contains a lot more and certain things in the movie will probably make more sense after reading it.
They did change the ending of the movie. It was not a bad thing in itself but it did completely change the focus of the ending and made it a bit less believable.
About the blue penis, guys, please get over it. It's not like you've never seen a penis before, you have one and don't tell me you've never been in a locker room before. You might not look at other's "tools" on purpose but you certainly can't help seeing some. I'm also pretty sure you've looked to compare a bit as everyone does that. So please let's act like adults and not little kids giggling because they see a "wee wee".

Yeah, that's the problem. Without spoilers, I can see how they thought the... 'special effect' for the real ending would have looked completely ridiculous and out of place for moviegoers, but the whole point of it is that it's supposed to look ridiculous and out of place.
If anything, the message would have been ten times more clear and actually more insightful if the actual ending had been in the movie and been applied to that medium as well.
