finance.yahoo.com/news/Opt-Out-of-a-Body-Scan-Then-nytimes-3016411705.html?x=0Honestly I'm far more frightened by the prospect of losing my freedoms without any choice in the matter, that is, being forcefully subjected to obey, than I am of the chance of being in a plane with a terrorist aboard. You are protected by the Constitution, in the Fourth Amendment, against strip searches without probable cause. Getting on an airplane is NOT probable cause. This should be illegal. If this trend of forfeiting freedoms in the name of safety continues we will find ourselves living under a totalitarian regime. And the worst thing is that there is no group, no government body or officials, no one who is doing anything to check these abuses. Through it's inaction our own government is complicit in the abuse of its people's freedoms. What can we do? People don't have any other options when it comes to aerial transportation, so they either have to eat whatever shit is served to them or gtfo? What happened to the ideals this country stood for?

It just seems that 9/11 let the fear mongering run rampant while the rights of the individual are chipped away. In the guise of greater safety and protection from "those terrorists" we blindly or willingly hand over our rights. If you don't, then you must be a terrorist or labeled 'unpatriotic'.
Unfortunately we are living in the times of big brother, (not the tv show but the George Orwell novel 1984 about a totalitarian state) and big brother is watching. Modern technology allows for this. There are video surveillance cameras on every street corner in London & most major cities are following. Satellite cameras, internet monitoring & phone tapping are being used by governments the world over. Countries like China & Iran greatly limit the freedom of the internet and uses censorship and propaganda to dictate to their people.
And who's to stop all of this? Are we just a product of our times and this is how its going to be in this brave new world in which we live?
"Freedom's just another word for nothing left to loose. Nothing, I mean nothing honey if it ain't free."

The great question of our time. 1984, A Brave New World, and even The Lord of the Rings were rife with warnings of the impending dangers to come. Most people of that time, turned a blind eye or were simply ignorant to what was being presented to them. There's no room for denial anymore. A small group (they would like to be known as elite) does rule the world (not just America) and they have been planning a one world takeover for countless years. We're living in that age. It's not fearmongering - it's just the facts. We do, however, need more people to wake up. There are still far too many out there that think this is just wing-nut lunacy (thank you, mainstream media).

Well you are crazy if you think there's some secret organization plotting to take over the world.
It's just really wealthy people exerting influence in the government to suit their own ends. The closest they come to an "organization" is within different economic sectors (e.g. OPEC, being the most obvious, or just lobbying groups and dummy organizations used to funnel money into campaigns).
And I'm not asking the general question of what can we do, I'm asking it specifically in the context of stopping the TSA. What channels are available to us to take action through. As to what we can do in general, that's already been answered by many people before so I'm not going to get into it. Go do some reading if you care to know.

.... And I'm not asking the general question of what can we do, I'm asking it specifically in the context of stopping the TSA. What channels are available to us to take action ... I imagine there'll be some protest streakers at various airports to raise the privacy issues. The media raised security/terrorism hysteria helped pressurise current state policies. It can be used again to levy 'public opinion' behind the personal freedom issue & yank approval rating hungry administrations into policy reversal. These streakers better be real crumpet

No, I don't think there is a secret organization. Their organizations are very much out in the open now. I know you weren't asking a general, "what can we do?" Apologies for the unintentional hijacking. Though, I've done more reading than most and will continue to do so. I'm not really sure why you would assume that I was blindly asking without having any ideas. The question has been addressed, but I wanted to hear a few thoughts here. Again, maybe this wasn't the place. As for TSA: I think if we could get massive amounts of people not to comply with this body-scanner regulation, they'd have a tough time getting it to stick. The problem, of course, would be getting people to actually take part. I'm not sure enough people really care about this issue for mass non-compliance to work. Which saddens me - sure as fuck doesn't surprise me though.
