For those of you that don't know there are certain maps where you can get over or around the fences and get to the blocked off areas.
Do you consider that "cheating" and why?

If you jump the wall and find a place where you can kill others but they can't kill or even hit you, than I would consider that cheating. From what I've seen, if you can hit someone than you can be hit as well. If I know that someone is in a certain area doing that, I'll simply avoid that area. But as long as everyone has equal killing opportunity, than I don't think it's cheating in the traditional sense of the word. Jumping those barriers is not easy, so someone who can do so is welcome to mess around if they want. As far as I know there are no invisible walls that protect the escapee from arrows while he can kill all he wants. Little glitches like this might even add a level of strategy that has not been considered, so I don't see a lot of harm in it overall.

If an archer can hit them just as easily as they can hit the archer, I see no problem. It's no different than a nice sniping spot, other than the fact that most scouts won't be able to get you.

well, when I do it I try to attack just so I'm not a complete waste of space for my team (although I feel like I'm still hardly doing anything to help). The thing is, except on minas tirith top, you can only be a mage or a warrior, and either way your area of influence is very limited.

I don't think so, BM you and I have seen strategy evolve since the demo days. I remember when using staff or firewall would auto kill b/c people were so horrible. BM was the 1st person I witnessed use jump/lightning. I am sure the developers did not intend to give the mage such a fast attack, is this cheating? NO. It's a new strategy, learn how to deal with it, and once you do, a new one will come out, it's what keeps the game fun and ever changing.
I don't think hiding behind fences is a great strategy: Very limited view Alot of time is consumed moving to new positions Opposing team now has more players on the real map
Learn where there positions of attack are, stay out of harms way. And most of all use you brain, it's not rocket science.

It all depends.
If you can kill others and they can't kill you then it leans toward cheating, however, if you can do it. Then the question is, why don't they aswel. You just simply ask how and bingo, you now have a fight beyond the fence.
I would refrain from using it often. I would from time to time have fun with it, because it catches others attention. I have seen many players hiding in carcks where you can't cast firewalls and even at a weird elevation. To me, it just catches my attention.
Sharing the secret in this homepage would boost this forum popularity. I wouldn't mine exploring such places and possible new uneplored one, too.

I think the people who are short changed in this out of map idea, are the warrior, and scout. Warriors and Scouts are close range classes, so if you're an archer and sniping from a spot which wasn't meant to be accessed, you're sort of cheating, as they can't reach you. Most legit sniping points are accessible by anybody.

Most legit sniping points are accessible by anybody. Except warriors can get there because they're one of the two classes who can actually break the barriers required to get to these places. The only reason you ever see archers up there in Minas Tirith Top is because there are class-change statues in the empty area. Only mages and warriors can actually get there on their own (and archers cannot access either Minas Tirith out-of-maps or the Rivendell out-of-map).

I mean warrior/scouts who don't know how to do the glitches (i.e most of the players)

I dont view glitching as cheating, although it depends on the outcome, for example, ive seen a few glitches and ill tell you about them.
minas morgul : on the bridge closest to the good spawning place ( ctr map ) there is a fence at the very end where you can go over but there is limited roaming space, i was in the good team, and the witchking and some mage were standing there doing nothing, pretty much pointless.
minas tirith top ( tdm map ) : at the stairs in the middle under the throne roam, there is a fence which an archer can jump and go to the top of the stairs and shoot passing players.

Archers can't actually jump up there, only mages and warriors can. It just so happens that Pandemic decided to stick class-change statues in the empty area for no apparant reason.
