On Good Sportsmanship:
There have been some misconceptions floating around about bad sportsmanship I would like to address. Now why am I against Good sportsmen you ask? This is because Bad Sportsmanship is what makes Lotr fun. I want to **** talk about the bad players, and to make fun of the hobbits running around in shire because it is Fking hilarious, and tell everyone how bad everyone else is. That is one of the few entertainment factors in Lotr. If everyone is a good sportsman, there is no rivalry, no sense of commitment in wanting to get better so you can defeat someone that **** talks you.
The problem is, people automatically associate being a bad sport men with being a bad person. These are NOT the same things. Bad sportsmenship actually contributes to the evolution of any competitive sport (be it real sports or even e-sports). One thing you will notice is that the talented players are exceedingly arrogant. There are evidently a few exceptions, but the vast majority of them have no problem talking ****. This method is used as a means of advancement in anything where skill (however negligible) is involved.
The only valid incentive to be good at something is to be better than somebody else. Do you remember when Titan's own crown jewels , Bauer, joined TM7 just to INSULT TITANS? This motivated Straight to train harder than ever before, and even pushed Eternal_Agony to threaten Bauer with physical harm. It is always the bad players on the receiving end that perceive arrogance to be a flaw that they are above. These people are bigger hypocrites than the people that condemn anime and then arrive at the anime convention 2 hours in advance
How to be the Best Bad Sportsman You Can:
The most important part of being a good Bad Sportsman is to make sure when you make fun of other players, it happens person to person. Do not do it behind their backs, because then you are not being a bad sportsman, you are being a gay sportsman who likes to gossip. This is a quality expressed by the players in Hellfire/Killa/Brave clan, and nobody wants to be friends with someone from those clans. If you think someone is worse than Killaserpant when he fell off the bridge in a 1v1, let them know. This will ensure that when you lose to these people, they will retaliate with full force.
Second of all, you need to be sure that you are actually better than the players you are making fun of. There is no sense in calling someone bad if they are equally bad or almost as bad as you.
Finally, do not ever attempt to make friends with people you have made enemies with. If you want to instigate, make sure you can commit to following through. These principles are the foundation of competitive Lotr or games in general. Bad players like good sportsmen because they make them feel good about being bad, but the truth is good sportsmanship only exists in the lower echelons.
For example, consider the “unwarranted hype” surrounding the TC's (top clans). Now I know for a fact that every other Clan is utter **** and not even worth mentioning. Nevertheless, several of the players from these Clans are still under the impression that they are equally or even more talented than the players in TC's. This is false. If you are from any Clan other than the TC's, you are ****. If you are taking Lotr seriously, you would be on TC's. If you are a 40 years old and the leader of a role playing Clan, your decision to remain on Clan X is understandable.
Hope this helps! Planning to write some more next week
